Heavy penalties apply for misleading alcohol prices

Heavy penalties apply for misleading consumers about alcohol prices.

This media release includes a list that shows a broad example of a number of beers with the minimum price that they can be sold for under the new legislation. It should be noted that these prices are not indicative of what the actual retail prices are.

There are a number of factors that influence the sale price of alcohol including taxes, the price the retailer pays, transport costs, loyalty schemes and a range of other costs incurred by running a business.

Consumers should refer to what they paid for alcohol prior to 1 October and what they pay now.
